Our
History Digital Bridge
Technology Academy:
The Digital Bridge Technology Academy was
founded to provide technology training for low-income, at-risk youth. We believe
that providing access to technology and computer training for youth, traditionally
under-served within our community, is fundamental to bridging the Digital Divide.
The
Digital Bridge Technology Academy is a decentralized team of instructors partnering
with out-reach sites, inter-agency schools, and learning centers. Our program
is for students between the ages of 16 to 21 who have dropped out of high school
and are currently working to earn their G.E.D or high school diploma. Our team encourages youth to explore
new technology and careers through hands-on classes, workshops, community service,
and internships.
The Digital Bridge Technology Academy is working to develop
new partnerships with community and corporate leaders. We are actively seeking
hardware and software donations to expand our programs and deliver technology to community-based organizations
and directly into the homes of our youth.
In addition to donations, we are seeking
employers to help us expand our internship program. We believe that a key factor
to our success is placing our students into subsidized internships, where students
can build on the skills they have developed in the classroom. We prepare
youth for internships through customized training sessions, which enable our youth
to have the technology skills and soft skills necessary to succeed in an organization.
Our curriculum offers individual instruction and small group classes combined
with project-based learning and service learning opportunities.
